There’s a major manhunt underway this evening after an escaped convict managed to evade his prison guards while being treated in hospital in Dublin
At around 10am this morning, the man was escorted by two prison officers to St. James’s hospital in Dublin for an injury he picked up in jail.
After getting treated, it’s believed that the man managed to escape custody via the emergency department when the prison officers weren’t with him.
A capital-wide garda search is now underway after they claim the man is exceptionally violent.
The Irish prison service has relayed all relevant information in terms of a description of the man but this hasn’t been made public at this time.
It’s understood that he’s a 22-yr-old man serving a lengthy sentence in Mountjoy prison for a knife attack.
The garda searches are continuing this evening and the man’s whereabouts are still not known.
