
A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of murder by GardaĆ investigating the disappearance of Kenmare sheep farmer Michael Gaine, according to RTĆ.
The arrest was made this afternoon, following GardaĆ confirmation last night that partial human remains were discovered on Mr. Gaineās farm.
The suspect is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Co Kerry, where he can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
Searches and technical examinations are ongoing at lands in Carrig East, Kenmare.
In a statement reported by RTĆ, GardaĆ said: “The family of Michael Gaine have been informed of this arrest and An Garda SĆochĆ”na continue to support Michael’s family through a Family Liaison Officer. The family have requested privacy at this time.”
