
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at University Hospital Kerry on the body of a woman found dead at a house in Killarney, Co Kerry, on Tuesday afternoon.
She has been named locally as Jamey Carney, who was in her 40s. Ms Carney, who was of American descent and had lived in the town for several years, was discovered at her home on the Muckross Road by a family member. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
GardaĂ believe she died as a result of force being used. She had been working locally and was actively involved in the community.
A family liaison officer has been appointed to support her relatives. The results of the post-mortem will determine the direction of the investigation.
GardaĂ are appealing for anyone who was in the Muckross Road area of Killarney on Tuesday afternoon, or who may have relevant camera footage including dash-cam recordings, to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 66-61-11, or any garda station.
It’s understood that a migrant is wanted for questioning. He travelled to Ireland via France and was known to Ms Carey.
