
A 34-yr-old man is currently in garda custody as part of the investigation into the murder of an eight-year-old girl in Co Wexford, reports RTE.
In developing details today, it’s emerged via the Irish Mirror, that the suspect was recently released from prison in the UK and had just returned to Ireland in recent weeks.
Malika Al Kattib lost her life following the incident at her residence in New Ross on Sunday night.
Her mother sustained injuries in the incident and has been hospitalized, but her condition is not life-threatening.
The attacker also suffered injuries, reports RTE.
Gardaà feel they have determined most of the details regarding the incident and are pursuing a clear line of inquiry.
A senior officer is overseeing the investigation, and an incident room has been established at New Ross Garda Station.

Malika’s school expressed that her death is a “horrible tragedy.”
In a statement shared online, Therese White, the principal of New Ross Educate Together NS, mentioned that the school has activated its Critical Incident Management Plan to assist both students and teachers.
“We were informed this morning about the death of one of our students,” reports RTE.
“This is a horrible tragedy for the family, our school, and our community. We are profoundly saddened by these events. Our thoughts and condolences are with family and friends,” reports RTE.
The school is receiving support from the National Educational Psychological Service.
“Our teachers are aiding students in coping with this tragic event. We will be providing parents with information today on how they can support their children during this challenging time. We kindly ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy during this difficult period,” reports RTE.
