A 17-yr-old boy has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of another 17-year-old boy at a Tusla emergency residential unit in Donaghmede, north Dublin.
The incident unfolded during a dispute at the Grattan Wood apartment complex facility, which houses four unaccompanied minors seeking international protection and is operated by a private company on behalf of Tusla, the child and family agency.
Gardaà launched a murder investigation after emergency services responded to the scene shortly after 11 a.m. One teenager was stabbed and died from his injuries, while the suspect—a fellow resident—was detained at the site and later hospitalized with serious injuries.
A female staff member who intervened in the altercation sustained minor injuries and was also treated at a hospital.
Authorities have preserved the area as a crime scene, cordoning off two apartment blocks.
