Motorists have been advised to be extremely careful overnight and tomorrow morning as the first meaningful snowfall of 2020 hit various counties in the west and north west.
North Galway and most of Co Mayo saw heavy persistent snow showers this evening which have led to dangerous driving conditions.
It’s understood that Ballinrobe to Claremorris road and the Claremorris to Kiltimagh roads have surface snow.
Met Eireann say that conditions are expected to get worse tonight as temperatures fall below freezing.
Gardai say that heavy snow conditions have left dangerous driving conditions and that people should take extreme care overnight and in the morning if they’re out on the roads.
