Motorists have been advised to be very careful this morning as the first meaningful snowfall of 2020 hit various counties in the west and north west.
North Galway and most of Co Mayo saw heavy persistent snow showers yesterday evening which have led to dangerous driving conditions.
It’s understood that Ballinrobe to Claremorris road and the Claremorris to Kiltimagh roads have surface snow.
Temperatures fell below freezing overnight with Gardai saying that heavy snow conditions have left dangerous driving conditions and that people should take extreme this morning if they’re out on the roads.
