BREAKING: Multiple snow warnings issued as people warned to be vigilant on the roads




Met Éireann say that treacherous conditions have been reported around the country on some roads as heavy snow fell in parts of the south and west of the country overnight.

A Status Orange weather warning for snow and ice has been used and is in effect for counties Clare, Limerick and Tipperary, while an Orange warning for snow and rain is in place for counties Cork and Waterford.

The national weather forecaster has also issued an Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning for the entire country, while counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow, Munster, Galway, Mayo and Roscommon are under a Yellow snow and ice warning.

All warnings are in place until at least lunchtime today.

People are advised to be extremely careful on the roads also.
