The cervical cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan as died.
According to RTE, Ms Phelan died in Milford Hospice in Letterkenny, earlier this morning.
In recent years, she became a strong advocate for the rights of women who were diagnosed with cervical cancer following an incorrect diagnosis. The Scally Independent investigation was set up as a result of her work.
She received many accolades for her campaigning and was named as one of the BBC 100 Women in 2018.
