It has been confirmed in the past few minutes that nine people have been killed and sixteen people have been seriously injured after a van ploughed through a crowd of pedestrians in Toronto, Canada.
The tragic news of the fatalities have just been confirmed in the past few minutes by the city’s mayor and deputy police chief.
Police investigating the devastating incident have also confirmed the man driving the van has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
The causlities come after a van ploughed through a group of pedestrians on Yonge Street and Finch Avenue East at approximately 1:30pm local.
Although its is not yet known how the incident occurred, a number of eyewitnesses say the van deliberately drove through the crowd.
Police have advised the public to stay away from the area as investigations are continuing.
