Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald has ruled herself out of running for President.
It was highly expected that McDonald would run, and could possibly compete in an Aras run, but that now will not happen.
It’s understood that Sinn Fein members are meeting in Dun Laoghaire to decide whether to run a candidate or to back Catherine Connolly.
Meanwhile, Independent candidates will start speaking with Councils today in an effort to get onto the ballot.
