Gardaí are investigating a sinister and threatening email sent to a number of schools in County Clare overnight.
Gardai have a team of investigators in place and are currently assessing the contents and credibility of the email.
A Garda told The Liberal that they are taking this situation extremely seriously and that schools in the area made the right decision to remain closed until further notice.
Gardaí have advised senior management at the affected schools to ring Ennis Garda Station to consult on the situation.
A number of schools have opted to remain closed until further clarity is provided.
