OJ Simpson granted parole after serving nine years in prison for armed robbery





Former American football star and actor OJ Simpson has been granted parole after serving almost nine years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping.
Simpson aged 70, who spent the last nine years behind bars for aggravated burglary will be released in October after he served the minimum requirement of his 33-year sentence.

The star who also appeared in The Naked Gun movie series was convicted in 2008 after he was found guilty of holding two sports memorabilia dealers at gun point in a Las Vegas hotel room.

The incident which became global news occurred when Simpson apparently targeted the two men after he enlisted the help of men he barely knew to intimidate the men to retrieve sports collectibles which sold despite Simpson claiming they were stolen from him a decade earlier.

OJ who came to world fame back in 1995 when he stood trial for the brutal murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman after they were found stabbed to death at he L.A.home.

Simpson was acquitted of the charges in what was dubbed as the trial of the century.
