At least one person has been killed after a man entered a supermarket in the southern French region of Trebes.
According to local media reports the man armed with a gun has taken ap number of hostages pat the local Super U supermarket.
It is believed that another person has been seriously wounded in the incident.
Local sources say many customers at the supermarket managed to flee the scene.
A number of French officials have told state media that they believe that the incident maybe terror related after a number of eyewitnesses told local police authorities that the gunman entered the supermarket “Alahu Akbar, I’ll kill you all”.
Meanwhile French authorities have revealed that a policemen was shot whilst jogging with colleagues in Carcassonne, a 15-minute drive away.
Although the officer was not critically injured in the incident, it is not yet known if the two incidents are related.
