A serving garda, who admitted to dangerous driving causing the death of a 45-yr-old man in Drogheda, has been jailed for six years.
Niall MacEneaney, pictured above, died after a hit-and-run incident on the Rathmullen Road in Drogheda, Co Louth on March 17th, 2024.
Garda Michael Ball, who was working in Drogheda garda station at the time, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene.
At sentencing in Dundalk Circuit Court today, Ball’s behaviour on the night in question fell far below the levels of gardai, or anyone in society for that matter.
The Judge said that he left Niall MacEneaney to die on the side of the road and drove off.
