In breaking news, a man has been found guilty of the capital murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan who was killed in June 2020.
According to RTE, 46-year-old Stephen Silver from Foxford in County Mayo denied murdering the detective but admitted manslaughter. He was said to have a long history of mental illness and the jury in the trial were told that they had to focus on was his state of mind at the time of the killing.
After deliberating for 9 hours, they found him guilty of murdering a garda in the course of his duty.
