The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has reportedly stated that school closure restrictions could last until May.
According to RTÉ News, the Taoiseach made the comments whilst speaking during the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party meeting this evening.
It is understood that the Taoiseach told his fellow Fine Gael colleagues that restrictions could remain in place for a number of weeks ahead.
RTÉ News reports that the Taoiseach also states that the effects of social distancing may not be seen for a number of days.
He added the number of cases will significantly increase the coming days.
