Two police officers have been stabbed and a male suspect has been shot in a suspected terror attack in Brussels.
A male suspect was involved in a knife attack when the police officers checked a man in the neighbourhood of Schaerbeek – which has been called ‘a breeding ground for terror’ – around midday.
The man immediately pulled out a knife and attacked them and stabbed one in the neck and the other in the stomach.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A third officer suffered a broken nose after being punched in the face as the suspect tried to flee the scene on Boulevard Lambermont and resisted arrest.
The suspect was shot in the leg but his injuries were not serious but is currently being held by police on suspected terrorism charges.
