BREAKING: Virginia Giuffre, who accused Prince Andrew of sexual assault, has died, her family has announced

Virginia Giuffre, who accused Prince Andrew of sexual assault, has died at the age of 41. Her family announced in a statement to NBC News, Sky’s U.S. partner network, on Friday that she took her own life at her farm in Neergabby, Western Australia, where she had resided for several years.

“With utterly broken hearts, we announce that Virginia passed away last night,” her family said, in a statement to Sky.

“She lost her life to suicide, having been a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking. Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against these crimes, a light that lifted so many survivors. In the end, the toll of abuse became too heavy for her to bear.”

Giuffre filed a lawsuit against the Duke of York in August 2021, alleging he sexually assaulted her at 17 while she was being trafficked by his friend, Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted criminal. Prince Andrew has consistently denied the allegations and has faced no criminal charges. In March 2022, the pair reached an out-of-court settlement, reportedly involving a significant donation to Giuffre’s charity supporting victims’ rights.
