A man in his 20s has died in hospital after a serious assault in Kildare town on Sunday.
He was found unresponsive on McGee Terrace at around 3.15am and was rushed to Naas General Hospital with head injuries.
He has since passed away.
The coroner has been informed, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course.
Gardaà stated that the results of the post-mortem will guide the direction of the investigation.
They are appealing for witnesses and urge anyone in the area between 2am and 4am on Sunday to come forward.
