Breakthrough: Scientists create new male contraceptive pill that could work for days

There has been a revolutionary breakthrough in how birth control could be managed in the future as scientists in the UK believe they have come up with the first ever male contraceptive pill.

The new pill that will be designed specifically for men will apparently work as nasal spray that makes men infertile for a number of days.

Scientists say the fast acting contraceptive will work by entering sperm in matter of minutes, which in turn stops them from swimming leaving them unable to fertilise eggs.

Leading researchers at Wolverhampton University also say the new compound would be a significantly different from the current female contraceptive as it could last up to a number of days.

Speaking about the breakthrough: “Professor John Howl said: “The results are startling and almost instant. When you take healthy sperm and add our compound, within a few minutes the sperm basically cannot move”.

However the new male pill is unlikely to hit pharmacy’s soon as it is still in the testing stage, but scientists believe it could be made available by 2021.
