British army chief warns that global instability could lead to World War 3

The head of Britain’s armed forces has warned the global instability caused by the economic fallout of Covid-19 could spark a third world war.

Nick Carter, the UK’s Chief of Defence Staff, told the press at a Remembrance Day event that increasing regional conflicts across the world ‘could see escalation lead to miscalculation’ according to Reuters.

When asked about the possibility of World War 3, he warned that ‘It’s a risk and we need to be conscious of these risks’. There are currently 40 active conflicts across the globe, with experts warning that the upcoming Covid induced recession could make tensions worse.

Carter added that ‘If you forget the horror of war’ then world leaders might believe that ‘going to war is a reasonable thing to do’.
