The incident happened at Terenure Road East, Dublin, at around 4:45am this morning.
A businessman was in the process of lodging some money in a cash deposit box in Rathgar Village when he was approached and threatened by a man. He was then confronted by a second man armed with a handgun and wearing women’s clothes.
The two raiders then made their getaway in a car parked nearby. The car, believed to be a Hyundai i40, had a taxi sign on the roof and false plates 12-CE-1549. The vehicle has since been recovered.
The businessman was not injured in the incident.
Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, or perhaps seen the car earlier that day, to come forward.
