Businessman Sean Quinn condemns attack on Kevin Lunney, the new Quinn chief operating officer

Sean Quinn, the businessman who gave employment to thousands along the border area and former Ireland’s richest man, has condemned fully the vicious beating that Kevin Lunney took during his abduction.

Lunney is effectively the man who replaced Quinn at his own operation in Derrylin near his home in Ballyconnell.

Mr Quinn is seen in very high regard by the endless number of people whom he gave employment to over the years and is admired by the vast number of people in Ireland who saw him as a great businessman and someone who managed to create an enormous business from nothing.

Lunney was abducted on Tuesday evening when his car was rammed quite close to his house. He locked himself inside but four masked men got him out of the car and took him to a remote location. It’s believed that he was put into a horse box where he was badly beaten. He was then brought back to a road in Co. Cavan and left in a ditch.

Mr Quinn has condemned the attack when he spoke on Shannon radio earlier today. He made it clear that it wasn’t fair for anyone to point the finger at him or his family as they had nothing to do with it and they they all condemn it.

Kevin Lunney is recovering in hospital still. It’s understood that he has sustained life-changing injuries from the attack.
