Bye bye Indian Summer: Thunderstorms and hurricanes to hit Ireland this week

Category 4 Hurricane Joaquin is seen over the Bahamas in the Atlantic Ocean in this NOAA GOES East satellite image taken at 08:45 ET (12:45 GMT) October 2, 2015. Joaquin pounded the Bahamas for a second day with powerful winds and waves on Friday, but it was not expected to be a major threat to the U.S. East Coast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. It’s been a fairly good week weather wise at least. Mild temperatures and calm, settled weather, have blessed Ireland over the last 10 days or so.

But all that’s about to change as a thunderstorm passing over the south west part of the UK hits our shores tonight. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be fairly rough, while Wednesday and Thursday will be relatively calmer.

But come Friday, the tail end of hurricane Joaquin will lash the country, bringing gale force winds to exposed areas of the west and torrential rain over the weekend.

So make the most of the weather, as things are looking pretty bleak from here on out.
