Calls for Helen McEntee’s resignation in wake of U.S embassy issuing warning for American citizens visiting Dublin due to crime and violence

There are new calls for Justice Minister Helen McEntee to resign after the United States Embassy issued a safety warning for Americans visiting Dublin.

The warning, which advises U.S Citizens visiting the Irish capital to safeguard valuables, such as credit cards and passports, and refrain from carrying large amounts of cash, was issued after the brutal assault on American tourist Stephen Termini.

Mr. Termini currently remains in intensive care in Beaumont Hospital while earlier in the week it was announced a teenager had been arrested in connection with the attack which took place beside Store Street Garda Station.

In the aftermath of the attack there are calls for the government to refocus their efforts in terms of law and order legislation towards tackling violent crime, drug use and anti-social behaviour plaguing Irish cities rather than their current focus of passing an overtly Orwellian speech control law.
