Calls for the removal of ailing Russian President Vladimir Putin have begun appearing on state TV as momentum for the fall of the regime builds up.
The first such statement came from Russian opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin, who appeared on Russia’s NTV channel on 27 May and called for a new president to be elected in 2024.
This is a watershed moment in Russia, as it’s become starkly clear that invading Ukraine was one of the most ill-advised miscalculations in history, and that the ailing President’s time in power is coming to a grisly end.
