Road carnage continues, as two men have been killed, and six people were injured after two separate car crashes in Co. Meath and Co. Kildare last night.

A 42-year-old man sadly lost his life after the car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with another car in Co. Meath.

This incident happened on the R157 (Dunboyne to Maynooth Road), at Castlefarm near Dunboyne, at around 8.50pm. The man was pulled alive from the wreckage, but was later pronounced dead in hospital. There were five people in the other car, and they were all taken to hospital with injuries believed to be not life threatening.

Separately, a man in his 20s also lost his life when the car he was driving collided with a truck in Co. Kildare. The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries.

Witnesses of both crashes are asked to contact Gardai.
