Forensic teams searching through the house in Cavan where five members of the same family were found dead yesterday morning have found a written note that may give some insight into the alleged killer’s state of mind.
Initial investigations point at the fact that the head of the family, Alan Hawe, killed his wife Clodagh and his three kids, Liam, Niall, and Ryan, with a stabbing weapon and then hanged himself inside the house.
It emerged earlier today that a note had also been pinned to the back door of the house, warning visitors to not enter the premises and call Gardai instead.
No clear motive has been established for the murder-suicide event that has rocked the local community in Barconey, near Ballyjamesduff, in Co Cavan.
