Charges of false imprisonment and violent disorder may be imposed on Paul Murphy, two party colleagues, and five other people over the now infamous Jobstown protest on November 15 last year.

On that day, Tánaiste Joan Burton and her special adviser, Karen O’Connell, became trapped inside their car for two hours as protesters surrounded and rocked the vehicle.

The DPP will ultimately decide whether or not the charges are actually brought against Murphy and the rest of people involved.

In total, 37 people were arrested over the incident.
