The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that the news of Pfizer and BioNtech’s vaccine is positive but it’s too early to celebrate.
Speaking at a National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, Dr Holohan said the news of the vaccine’s 90% effectiveness rate is encouraging but warned we have to continue with current guidelines.
Dr Holohan said NPHET will reserve judgement until data is made available to regulatory authorities and published in scientific literature.
