Chief Medical Officer says there’s a long way to go but there are early signs of hope




The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that there is early signs of hope in terms of reducing Covid-19 case numbers.

Speaking following the announcement of Wednesday’s Covid-19 figures, Dr Holohan said the there is early signs of hope in terms of overall daily case numbers and positive test results.

However Dr Holohan warned that there is still a long way to go in terms of fighting the virus and added that we are likely to see increased hospitalisation and an increase in ICU admissions.

The Chief Medical Officer also warned that is likely that there will be an increase in mortality rate in the coming days ahead.

He added that the public must do it’s part by continuing to follow public health guidelines so that our loved ones and hospitals remain protected.
