Dozens of people were injured, including children, after a local man deliberately drove a car for a carnival parade in the central German town of Volkmarsen, police said.
Driver arrested, police unable to immediately reveal details of man’s motives, although Bild newspaper quoted spokesperson, Henning Hinn as saying they were
“working on the assumption that it was a deliberate act”.
There are several dozen wounded, some with life-threatening injuries and several of them children, Hinn indicated.
Local media reports that car was driven at “full throttle”.
The interior ministry in the state of Hesse said that he driver is described by police as a 29-yr-old German national was unable to be questioned. “Given the situation on the ground, a deliberate attack cannot currently be ruled out,” a spokesperson said.
