Christmas bonus confirmed to be paid in full to all social welfare recipients in December 2019

There was some good news in the budget for all social welfare recipients as it was confirmed that they will receive the full Christmas bonus again this year.

The Christmas bonus is an essential part of preparation for anyone who receives one and thankfully for social welfare recipients, the government reintroduced it two years ago and it remains here.

The Minister for Finance Paschal Donohue has confirmed that 100% of Christmas bonus will be paid to all social welfare recipients in 2019.

The news comes as many social welfare recipients feared that Fine Gael would pull the bonus this year as the budget was expected to be harsh.

Other social welfare payments will see the Living Alone allowance increase by €5, while the One Parent Family payment will go up by €15.

There will be an increase in the qualified child payment by a further €3 for over 12s and €2 for under 12s.

The fuel allowance will also increase by €2 per week for recipients.
