The Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, has confirmed today that single people will receive a Christmas bonus of €115 this year, while couples will get €220. These figures signify a 50% on last year.
The Christmas bonus scheme was controversially scrapped when the recession hit, but it was re-introduced last year.
According to Ms. Burton, next month’s budget will also introduce enhanced investment in health, education and childcare.
