Claims of Google allegedly giving personal information on people with right wing views to authorities leaked documents show




Tech giant Google is allegedly giving the personal information of people with right wing views over to authorities it has been revealed in a series of documents from the so-called “Blueleaks” trove.

The documents detail how users who make express violent or racist intent or expressed extremist views, particularly those with a right wing or “white nationalist” bent.
The trove was acquired by hackers from the servers of a hosting company in Texas and the Google documents contain subscriber information are signed by the company’s CyberCrime Investigation Group (CIG) which have authenticated by cybersecurity experts The Guardian reports.

The almost unknown investigative unit inside Google regularly forwarded detailed personal information on users to a counter-terrorist fusion centre in California’s Bay Area, which is one of many such centres set up in the wake of 9/11 which facilitates information sharing between state, federal, local and tribal law enforcement agencies on potential terror threats.

The Google investigative unit can use advanced methods to identify and locate anyone commenting online regardless of anonymous accounts used.

Google along with other tech companies and social media giants however, have long been accused of having a bias against those with a conservative, right wing and, or nationalist viewpoint and these accusations have led to congressional hearing and threats of action from President Trump.
