Close to 600,000 people tuned in to see the Late Late Show’s tribute to Shane MacGowan – but not everyone was happy with rendition of “Fairytale of New York”

Close to 600,000 people watched Friday night’s Late Late Show tribute to the legendary Shane MacGowan.

Around 591,000 people watched as stars such as Aidan Gillen and Patrick Bergin paid tribute to the one of a kind singer.

The Mirror reporst that the figures represent the second highest share of the season at 54%, only beaten by the usually popualar Late Late Toy Show, which had a share of around 76%.

But not everyone was happy with the rendition of “Fairytale of New York” which Shane sang with Philomena Begley. Some thought it was awful while others thought it was fine.
