Closing the Ryanair bases at Cork and Shannon for the winter could affect tourism ‘for years’, according to the head of the Cork Chamber of Commerce.

Paula Cogan issued the grim warning on foot of Ryanair’s announcement yesterday that the Cork and Shannon bases might shut for the winter.

If this comes to pass, tourism might be affected until 2023 at the earliest, according to Ms. Cogan.
