The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has been given an honorary fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons for his role during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a small ceremony this evening Dr Holohan was presented the award by RCSI President Professor Ronan O’Connell.
Speaking about Holohan’s role during the pandemic, O’Connell said Dr Holohan had provided clear and transparent information throughout the pandemic since it began.
He added that Dr Holohan’s information provided trust and cohesion amongst the Irish people.
