The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has urged the public to risk assess their plans this weekend.
Speaking about the current Covid-19 situation, Dr Holohan said that people should stay at home and not go to work or meet up with others if they are experiencing flu or cold like symptoms.
Although Dr Holohan praised the uptake of the Covid-19 vaccine, he said the virus doesn’t care if you are tired and fed up and it only sees an opportunity to spread if we let our guard down.
He added that vaccination is our only way out of this pandemic.
