In one of those self-indulgent “we are ever oh so great” moments, Enda Kenny and co. will pat themselves in the back today when they table a motion of confidence on themselves.
The Government will take such move in response to the controversy raised by the Fennelly Report, which stated that, while the Taoiseach did not sack Martin Callinan, Enda Kenny’s actions were a direct contributor to the Garda Commissioner quitting his job.
A debate will be held at 2:30pm today, with a vote expected to take place in early evening.
The vote, of course, will pass by a comfortable majority.
