Gardai have advised motorists to be extra vigilant on the roads over the next 48 hours as a cold snap takes grip.
Temperatures at plunging to -4c overnight and the coming week will continue to see lows of -2c and -1c.
Gardai have said motorists need to give themselves plenty of time for their journey and to leave earlier and drive slower to curtail the chances of skidding or crashing in the inclement conditions.
