A prayer service will take place in Monsterboice, County Louth today to commemorate the Irish Papal visit of Pope John Paul II in 1979.
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the visit and many people are expected to visit the large cross in Killineer, Co. Louth where Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in front of 250,000.
The service will take place at 5pm at the large cross.
