Communicorp bans all Irish Times journalists from appearing on any of its radio stations

Communicorp, the media company that operates Newstalk, Spin 103 and 98FM have banned all Irish Times journalists from appearing on its radio stations with no end date in sight.

The decision was taken after an article penned by Fintan O’Toole published on September 12th.

The piece was in relation to the George Hook controversy over comments the broadcaster made in relation to rape. O’Toole took exception to Hook and that said he would appear on Newstalk as a result.

Communicorp said it had asked for an apology from the Irish Times for the article but the newspaper had refused.

As a result, the Irish Times were informed that none of their team will be welcome on Communicorp’s shows.
