Confirmed – Vaccinated people can still get severe infection; Unvaccinated “may infect somebody they love very much that is vaccinated but is unfortunate enough to get a significant or severe infection”, says Chair of NPHET

In the latest warning to unvaccinated Irish people from the Chair of NPHET, Professor Philip Nolan, he told listeners to Newstalk that “Unvaccinated “may infect somebody they love very much that is vaccinated but is unfortunates enough to get a significant or severe infection”.

This gives no comfort to those who have already been vaccinated against covid-19 in the hope they would not get a severe infection.

Many vaccinated people hoped that the vaccines would protect them from becoming severely infected, but Professor Nolan’s latest warning clearly states that it is possible to still get a “significant or severe infection” if you are fully vaccinated.
