Consumers are today being warned of the potential dangers of a self-tanning product routinely advertised on social media.
The product in question, Melanotan (also advertised as Melanotan 2 or simply MT2) is sold as an injectable powder, nasal spray, or drops.
Authorities have stressed that this product is not authorized for any use in Ireland, and that its formulation is unknown.
This product has been associated with serious side effects like vision loss, stroke, muscle tremors, and anaphylaxis.
