Contactless payment limit will be increased to €50 by April 1 to reduce the use of cash




The limit for contactless payments will be increased to €50 by April 1, in an effort to reduce the use of cash.

The coronavirus is known to survive on surfaces for a yet undetermined timespan, so avoiding physical contact with cash is seen as a method to reduce the risk of infection.

There are now almost 1,900 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.
