Controversy as Bono is named on Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year list

There was outrage on social media recently after Glamour magazine named U2 frontman Bono on its annual Women of the Year list.

The rather unusual nomination comes after the magazine named the Dubliner after his avid campaigning for women’s rights.

Although the singer said he was honoured, he did state he was “sure he didn’t deserve it” but the battle for gender equality couldn’t be won “unless men lead it along with women”.

Bono also said he was “grateful” for the honour and said men were “largely responsible for the problem, so we have to be involved in the solutions”.

However the singers nomination has caused outrage on social media saying there are far more worthy nominations’ who are women that have achieved a lot over the past year.
