Cork woman gets jailed for punching Garda in the face and threatening to kill his family

In a recent hearing, the Bandon District Court in West Cork sentenced a lady to five months in prison for punching a Garda in the face and threatening his family, reports The Mirror.

Sgt. Tom Mulcahy testified in court that gardaí were notified of an alleged theft at Hernon’s Service Station in Cloughmacsimon, Bandon, in the afternoon of January 4, 2024. When the call came in, Sgt. Kevin Heffernan was on duty and answered it.

He discovered Laura Malone, 35, of Killaloe, County Clare, and another woman who was suspected of stealing alcohol from the store when he arrived at the Londis store at the service station. Malone does not have a fixed address.

According to Sgt. Heffernan, Ms. Malone was quite combative, and he believed that because she was intoxicated, she posed a risk to herself and other people.

She resisted his attempts to apprehend her and attacked Sgt. Heffernan. The court was informed that Ms. Malone attempted to bite Sgt. Heffernan and also kicked, scratched, and struck him in the face.

She threatened Sgt. Heffernan, stating in court that she would “Hang his children, cut his wife’s throat and find his house no matter what” while she persisted in resisting arrest, reports The Mirror.

The court was informed that Ms. Malone had been found guilty of nine different offences in the past and had previously been given a four-month prison sentence by the Ennis District Court on January 17, reports The Mirror.
