Coronavirus: Bergamo crematorium ‘working 24h a day’, in an effort to dispose of coronavirus victims

The crematorium facility in the Italian city of Bergamo is said to be running ’24h a day’, in a desperate effort to dispose of those who die from coronavirus-related causes, according to Euronews.

The crematorium, which is the only such facility in the province, worked normal hours until recently, but operators have reportedly been asked to work a 24h schedule for the foreseeable future due to the high mortality resulting from coronavirus infection.

Official figures vary, but there are now over 10,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Italy, with no fewer than 1,000 deaths.
